· Start by making a list of people who are important to you – but of course, these people have had significant impact in your life and must always be on top of your list
· Know the recipient – one must research about the gift recipient. It is not wise to give a gift that would not be appreciated nor of poor value to the recipient
· Have a wish list – having this list would definitely help the giver as to what gift the recipient would like to receive. Give this list to the recipient/s. Hence, the gift would not go to waste. It’s also important to put a ceiling on the wish list so you won’t go beyond or under the budget.
· Consider hobbies in gift giving – if recipient likes collecting stuff, then add one to his/her collection.
· Use common sense and caution – it is not good to give a gift to someone who might feel insulted with what you had given
· When possible, give the gift personally – it gives an atmosphere of warmth and sincerity. If this is not possible, have it delivered by a messenger and write a personal note for the recipient
· Give your gift on time – have your gift ready for the assigned day of gift-giving.
